History

The kingdom of Thaloria was once a scattered land of rival clans, each clinging to their own valleys and hills, bound more by grudges than by any shared identity. For generations, the region simmered with low‑level conflict — raids, border skirmishes, and old feuds that never quite died.

A shepherd stumbled upon glittering veins of gold in the mountains. Word spread like wildfire. For the first time in living memory, the clans saw something greater than their rivalries — a chance for prosperity beyond anything they had known.

Gold became the catalyst that brought people together.

The clans gathered at the mountain’s base and forged the Truce of Thaloria, agreeing to:

  • Share mining rights

  • Protect caravans

  • Establish neutral trade zones

  • Form a council to settle disputes

This truce didn’t erase old wounds, but it decreased violence dramatically. Roads once dangerous became busy arteries of trade. Markets flourished. A new sense of identity began to form.

With wealth flowing and cooperation rising, the old feuds faded.

Thaloria transformed from a fractured land into a budding kingdom.

Raids dropped to almost nothing. Clan warriors became guards, miners, and merchants. Children grew up knowing neighbours from other clans

A kingdom forged by opportunity.

Held together by cooperation.

Threatened by dwindling resources

But prosperity built on a single vein is fragile.

After decades of mining, the gold has begun to run out. Production has slowed. Prices rose. The clans felt old tensions stirring beneath the surface. The Council of Thaloria struggle to maintain unity as fear crept back into the hearts of the people.

Some whispered that the truce had only ever been as strong as the gold that bound it.

Thaloria stands at a crossroads.

Its people must decide whether they will fall back into crisis and division — or rise into a new era built on something stronger than gold.

Culture

The Festival of the Golden Vein is an annual celebration marking the discovery of the first great gold seam that united the people. Miners parade through the streets with lanterns shaped like nuggets, families share meals cooked in iron pots like those used in the early camps, and the night ends with a shimmering display where molten‑gold–coloured lights flow down the mountainside. It’s a joyful tribute to the prosperity, hard work, and unity born from mining.
